Brand
Lacoste
Lacoste is a French clothing company founded in 1933 by René Lacoste and his friend André Gillier, which became famous for the invention of the polo shirt, with the crocodile placed on the left side of the chest.
The crocodile takes shape in 1927 under the designer Robert George. Precursor of customization, René Lacoste immediately had it embroidered on his blazers. A few years later, the polo shirt was born from the union of the T-shirt with the shirt, functional for the tennis players of the time. The crocodile on the heart makes Lacoste the first brand to put a visible logo on a garment.
Lacoste paid a lot of attention not only to tennis but also to other sports such as soccer and especially golf, since his wife was a regular player of this sport.
