In the mid -1960s, racing footwear were limited and the "training" shoes did not exist. There were tips for training and competitions, but there were no shoes to warm up, cool off or do easy kilometers. Athletics athletics asked for a shoe with which they could make their daily training races, so Karhu developed the trampas.

Karhu is a brand born in 1916 in Helsinki and today represents the Finnish brand par excellence in terms of sports footwear. The Karhu brand, which in Finnish means "bear", until 1952 was represented by the 3 diagonal stripes, a distinctive sign that in that year was sold to Adidas.
