GRIVEL Grivel
Founded in 1818 in Courmayeur, it is the oldest manufacturer of mountaineering gear still in operation. Grivel is the surname of the founders Henry and Laurent. The company was sold in 1982 to a group of enthusiasts gathered around Gioachino Gobbi.
With the new millennium Grivel decided to devote its efforts and investments to improving the safety of mountaineers.
In 2003, Grivel began fitting all crampons with the new antibott, the only "proactive" one that expels snow accumulated under the plate between the points of the crampons. In 2014, Grivel patented and built the first carabiner with two opposing opening levers that make total safety for the user without the need for any intervention on their part. The safest carabiner ever produced. The Twin Gate carabiner was awarded the "Compasso d'Oro", the Oscar for design, for the first time in the outdoor industry.
